The monastic sisters were invited by Cardinal O'Connor in 1987 to come to this place dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes where thousands of Christian students came, during the course of 75 years, for summer camp with priests of the diocese to listen to the Word of God, and they were marked throughout their lives by the experience. This monastery is situated in the Catskill Mountains, two and a half hours from New York City. The hundreds of hectares of forest which surround the monastery assure impregnable conditions for silence and solitude. Who would not be captivated by the charm of this wilderness, similar to that which Saint Bruno found in a region which was nevertheless different? The colors of the hills and the stillness of the lakes offer rest and relief to weary spirits. That is why many priests of the diocese come for a retreat in this place far removed from the life of the world.
