At the request of Monseigneur Gilles Lussier, bishop of Joliette, the monastery of Sainte Marie-Reine-des-cœurs was founded in 1993 in Chertsey, a village with 120 lakes, in the region of Basses Laurentides, one and a half hour from Montreal, in a splendid site that is solitary and silent in the heart of a forest which is ablaze with the colors of fire in the autumn. In 2008, the inhabitants of the region, many of whom worked with their own hands in the construction of the church, came for the consecration which was celebrated by their bishop. Twelve hermitages of Canadean construction form the beginnings of a cloister.
