MONASTÈRE NOTRE-DAME DE L’UNITÉ

Situated at the foot of Mount Revard, the monastery of Notre-Dame de l’Unité received the heritage of one of the pioneers of ecumenism, a friend of Cardinal Mercier and of Lord Halifax: Father Fernand Portal, who is buried in the crypt of the church whose eastern architecture is itself a call to unity for the Churches. In this peaceful and pleasant corner of Savoie, facing the Lake of Bourget, lives a community of twenty monastic sisters.
